  • Participants will demonstrate awareness of link between co-occurring disorder assessment and treatment planning.

 

Substance Induced Mental Health Disorders

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will review the primary diagnostic criteria for substance induced mood disorder and substance induced psychosis

  • Participants will explore specific mental health symptoms connected to particular substances

  • Participants will increase vocabulary and understanding of types of hallucinations and delusions that may present in the substance induced mental health client.

    Advanced Ethical Issues for Co-Occurring Disorders Specialists

    6 Continuing Education Hours

     

    Learning Objectives:

  • Counselors will become familiar the principles outlined in the Co-occurring Disorder Code of Ethics developed by CCBAC in California

  • Counselors will review the role of stigma and its impact on counselors delivering co-occurring services

  • Counselors will review the core competencies of the Dual Diagnosis Capable counselor, and examine tips for counselors with dual diagnosis issues to retaining their self-care regimens

  • Counselors will review three levels of Dual Diagnosis competency to clarify the scope of practice that reflects their current knowledge base

  • Counselors will become familiar with appropriate service delivery standards for co-occurring disorders as reflected in the SAMSHA Tip 42

  • Counselors will examine the overlap between Federal Confidentiality laws and HIPPA regulations

  • Counselors will explore reasons that counselors struggle with boundary setting and crossing

  • Counselors will become familiar with the CCBADC
